Cozy apps can give you a gentle way to keep in touch: a letter to answer later, a small island to visit or a pet to raise with a friend. Sea Pals brings those together with Mochi the otter and Doori the hermit crab, with nothing lost if you skip a day. If you are looking for apps like Finch, decide whether you want personal self-care goals or something to share with another person.

## What do you want from a cosy app?

People who enjoy cozy games may like a small place to return to between busy days. For keeping in touch, look for an activity you both enjoy and a pace that suits your schedules.

- Letters leave room to answer when you have something to say.
- A shared pet gives you something small to notice together.
- Personal self-care goals give you a reason to check in with yourself.

## Sea Pals: an island for your friendships

Your island is your little place in Sea Pals, with Mochi the otter living there. Letters can introduce you to pen pals through shared interests and shared or learning languages, often in a new country. You cannot choose a country or a particular recipient.

With a friend, you can raise [Doori the hermit crab](https://seapals.app/doori), whose shell grows as you talk. When the conversation rests, Doori naps and keeps its progress. Sea Pals is free on iPhone, Android and the web; the app is in English, Korean, Japanese, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, Turkish, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, Italian, French and Polish.

## Apps like Finch: choose the activity you want

Finch is a self-care app: you look after a small bird by completing your own self-care goals. It is free with an optional subscription. If the bird is what appeals to you, Doori offers a different kind of companionship: a hermit crab you raise through conversation with a friend.

## Slowly and Bottled: two ways to meet by message

Slowly makes the wait part of writing: letters take hours to days depending on distance. It has interest, region and age-range filters, with optional paid stamp extras.

Bottled sends a message in a bottle to one random person. If the recipient keeps it, you can chat using text, photos and voice; otherwise it drifts to someone else. It is free with an optional subscription. Compare the meeting styles in the [pen pal apps guide](https://seapals.app/guides/pen-pal-apps).

## Start with a small hello

If you already have a friend in mind, connect in Sea Pals by friend link or island code. You could write about your day, notice Doori’s shell or keep a chat moment in your Book. For a note to make first, try the [free letter paper](https://seapals.app/letter).

## Questions

### Is Sea Pals a cosy game?

Sea Pals is a social app with an island, Mochi and a shared pet. You write letters and keep in touch with friends; it is not built around game levels or completing daily tasks.

### Is Sea Pals like Finch?

Both have a small animal companion, but their activities differ. Finch centres on your own self-care goals; Doori in Sea Pals grows through conversation with a friend.

### What happens if I skip a day in Sea Pals?

Nothing is lost. Doori naps when your conversation rests, keeps its shell progress and is there when you return.
