For a photo booth strip with friends, plan a little story: a hello, a shared pose, a silly surprise and a goodbye. Choose movements that fit the camera window, practise before starting and let everyone pick a pose they feel comfortable doing. These ideas work for two friends, a group or a solo strip, with ordinary things you already have.

## Plan four poses as a little story

A four-cut photo strip reads from top to bottom, so a simple sequence connects the pictures. Decide on the order before opening the camera: a calm beginning, a shared gesture, a surprise and a warm finish.

Practise the changes before shooting, keeping hands inside the picture. In the [free online photo booth](https://seapals.app/booth), the countdown starts again before each shot; move into the next pose, then hold it still.

- Hello: face the camera with a small wave beside your face, without covering a friend’s.
- Together: make matching little hearts or lean towards the middle, leaving both faces visible.
- Surprise: look at each other with an exaggerated surprised expression you have agreed on beforehand.
- Goodbye: finish with a relaxed smile or wave. Repeating the opening gesture connects the strip.

## Photo booth poses for two friends

Start with shoulders at a similar distance from the camera so one face does not dominate. Mirror a gesture, pass an imaginary object or use different expressions to tell the same joke.

Ask before leaning on a friend or putting an arm around them. Let each person choose a pose, then play with those ideas.

- Mirror pose: tilt towards the centre and make the same gesture. Lower hands that hide faces.
- Shared heart: each makes half a heart. Check the view; the halves can meet without pressing shoulders together.
- Two reactions: one looks delighted, the other surprised, then swap. Make sure everyone enjoys the joke.

## Group poses when everyone shares one phone

Put the phone somewhere steady and check the actual photo window. Arrange faces at different heights, with people at the back looking through gaps. Holding the phone at arm’s length can make posing harder.

Choose someone to call out the next pose. Small changes are easier than changing places between shots. If someone is cut off, rearrange before another strip; nobody should have to hold an uncomfortable position.

- Layered waves: everyone waves beside their own face, leaving eyes and smiles visible.
- Looking around: choose different directions, then face the camera together. Move heads rather than bodies.
- Gesture chain: repeat a small gesture across the group. Choose something everyone can do comfortably, including while seated.

## Solo photo booth poses

A solo strip can tell a story through expressions. Keep your position steady and change your head angle, hands or gaze. Practise to see how much room the frame leaves around you.

You can also keep your face out of view and hold a drawing or favourite object in the photo window. Check the preview rather than guessing.

- Changing mood: look thoughtful, curious, surprised, then relaxed. Pick expressions you enjoy making.
- Hand story: wave, make a heart, frame an object with your hands, then wave goodbye.
- An object’s visit: show a toy or drawing, turn it towards the camera, hold it beside you, then wave.

## Use props you already have

A scarf, paper heart, small toy or handmade sign connects the pictures without buying anything. Choose something easy to hold and pass it slowly between shots. Keep it below your face unless hiding your face is the pose.

Check signs for names, school badges, addresses or ticket details. The browser booth mirrors the camera view in saved photos too, so lettering may appear backwards. Shapes or drawings avoid that problem.

- Paper shape: fold or cut a heart, then move it across the pictures.
- Shared colour: loosely hold a scarf below your faces, away from anyone’s neck.
- Tiny drawing: sketch a cloud, flower or sea creature on scrap paper; change its position between shots.

## Keep the photos kind and private

Agree on sharing before the shoot, then ask again after everyone sees the finished strip. Someone may enjoy taking photos and still want them kept private. Respect a changed mind.

Keep other people’s photos private unless they agree to the specific audience. Teens should think twice before posting faces, especially with uniforms, badges or recognisable places in view. Hands-only or props-only pictures can tell the same story.

- Ask clearly: “Can I send this to our friends?” Posing is not permission to share everywhere.
- Review together: show everyone the saved image before sending it.
- Respect a no: retake without someone who does not want to appear, or keep the image private.

## Take your story into the online booth

Choose the poses first, then [open the photo booth](https://seapals.app/booth), pick a seasonal frame and allow camera access. The browser takes 4 photos with a 3-second countdown before each, and makes a PNG strip you can download or share.

To give the strip with a message, add a [friendship book page](https://seapals.app/book) about your favourite moment from the shoot. Friends can contribute their own pages, and the recipient keeps the book in Sea Pals.

## Questions

### What if we feel awkward posing?

Pick one easy gesture each and repeat it with small changes. A wave, a glance towards each other and a relaxed finish give you a sequence without needing an elaborate routine.

### How do we fit a group in one photo booth strip?

Check the photo window before starting. Arrange faces at different heights, use gaps between shoulders and keep hands away from faces; if it feels cramped, split into smaller groups.

### Can I use these poses on my own?

Yes. Try changes in expression, a hand-gesture story or a small prop moving across the pictures. You can also keep your face out of the frame.

### Can I save or print a strip from the online booth?

Yes. Download the strip as a PNG, then print it yourself or through a print service. Check with everyone pictured before sharing the image or giving away a printed copy.
