# Long-distance friends app: stay close across countries Updated 11 October 2026 Sea Pals is a free long-distance friends app with friends widgets on iPhone, photo sharing, a shared virtual pet and little moments to keep. Connect with a friend or partner you already know by link or code, then see their local time, send weather to their island or make a booth strip from two phones. Stay close between longer conversations. ## A long-distance friends widget app Choose each other for the Friend widget on iPhone to see an island, local time, note, latest camera photo and your Doori. Boop Doori, poke your friend or send rain without opening the app. From the app, you can also send snow or petals to their island. Their local time helps you choose when to write across time zones. ## Find a little sea glass in common If you both pick up the same sea glass or other tide find on the same day, Sea Pals records a “same tide” moment for each of you. It is a small coincidence to keep from your different islands. ## Online photo booth for long-distance couples and friends The app’s booth lets each of you take your own cuts on your own phone, making one 4-cut strip together in a seasonal frame. One camera also sends a photo to a friend’s iPhone Home Screen widget. Letter friends need 5 qualifying text messages each and the receiver’s yes before photos; for a browser photo booth on one phone, use the free /booth tool linked below. ## A shared pet for friends and couples Raise Doori, a hermit crab, with a friend or partner you already know. Its shell grows with time and the sea glass earned from replies. When your chat rests, Doori naps and keeps its shell. ## Keep a few friends in the same conversation A lagoon is a group chat for up to 6 people, including invitations waiting for a yes. Only a friend can invite you, and you choose whether to join. Everyone’s local time and weather appear on the lagoon’s island, and translation helps where the phone and language pair support it. ## Your week washes up, even when you are apart Sunday Tide gathers photos, strips, finds, Doori moments, postcards and letters from your week. On Sunday evening in your local time, a week with moments washes up as a crate on your island. The Book also keeps chat memories, strips, friends’ pages and your private mood calendar. ### How can I stay close to a friend in another country? Connect by link or code, choose their Friend widget, send photos or weather, and make a booth strip or raise Doori together. Their local time is visible. ### Can we each use our own iPhone? Yes. Friend widgets are available on iPhone. You can use your own iPhones for chats, Doori and shared booth cuts. ### Can anyone send me photos? Only friends can send camera photos. For letter friends, both sides need 5 qualifying text messages and you must allow photos from that person. ### Will our pet lose progress while we are busy? No. Doori naps when the conversation goes quiet and keeps its shell and sea glass. ### What can we do together besides chat? Raise Doori, take a booth strip from your own phones, send island weather or notice a same-tide find when it happens. ### Can long-distance couples use it? Yes. Partners who already know each other can connect by link or code and use widgets, Doori, booth strips and the Book together. ## Related pages - [Four-cut photo booth](https://seapals.app/booth) - [Shared pet](https://seapals.app/doori) - [Group chats](https://seapals.app/lagoons) - [Pen pal app](https://seapals.app/pen-pals) - [Friends widget app](https://seapals.app/widgets) - [Memory book & photo journal](https://seapals.app/memory-book) - [Long distance relationship app](https://seapals.app/long-distance-relationship-app) - [BTS fans](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/bts) - [K-pop fans](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/kpop) - [Korean pen pals](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/korean) - [Korean practice with friends](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/learn-korean) - [K-drama fans](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/kdrama) - [Anime fans](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/anime) - [Japanese pen pals](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/japanese) - [Learn Japanese](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/learn-japanese) - [English practice](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/learn-english) - [Adult pen pals](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/adults) [Open in your browser](https://seapals.app/app) ## Pen pals for… - [BTS fans](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/bts) - [K-pop fans](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/kpop) - [Korean pen pals](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/korean) - [Korean practice with friends](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/learn-korean) - [K-drama fans](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/kdrama) - [Anime fans](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/anime) - [Japanese pen pals](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/japanese) - [Learn Japanese](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/learn-japanese) - [English practice](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/learn-english) - [Adult pen pals](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/adults) ## Legal - [Otter maker](https://seapals.app/make/otter) - [Four-cut photo booth](https://seapals.app/booth) - [Friendship book](https://seapals.app/book) - [Sea creature quiz](https://seapals.app/quiz) - [Letter paper](https://seapals.app/letter) - [Friendship quiz](https://seapals.app/friendship-quiz) - [Virtual pet app with friends](https://seapals.app/doori) - [Friends in other countries](https://seapals.app/lagoons) - [Pen pals](https://seapals.app/pen-pals) - [Safety](https://seapals.app/safety) - [Guides](https://seapals.app/guides) - [Friends widget app](https://seapals.app/widgets) - [Memory book & photo journal](https://seapals.app/memory-book) - [Long-distance friends](https://seapals.app/long-distance-friends) - [Culture](https://seapals.app/culture) - [Long distance relationship app](https://seapals.app/long-distance-relationship-app) - [BTS fans](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/bts) - [K-pop fans](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/kpop) - [Korean pen pals](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/korean) - [Korean practice with friends](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/learn-korean) - [K-drama fans](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/kdrama) - [Anime fans](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/anime) - [Japanese pen pals](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/japanese) - [Learn Japanese](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/learn-japanese) - [English practice](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/learn-english) - [Adult pen pals](https://seapals.app/pen-pals/adults) - [Help](https://seapals.app/help) - [Privacy](https://seapals.app/legal/privacy) - [Terms](https://seapals.app/legal/terms) - [Community guidelines](https://seapals.app/legal/guidelines) - [Child safety](https://seapals.app/legal/child-safety) - [About](https://seapals.app/about) City data from GeoNames (CC BY 4.0)
