Lagoons

Group chat with friends in different countries

A lagoon is a Sea Pals group chat for up to 6 friends in different countries. Its island shows everyone’s local time and weather, with a Doori you raise together. You join after accepting a friend’s invitation.

An invitation from a friend, then your yes

Only a friend can invite you to a lagoon, and you decide whether to join. Members and invitations waiting for a yes share the 6-person limit. People in the group who are not already friends must pass the app’s stranger age and safety checks.

Their local time and weather

The lagoon’s island shows everyone’s otter and local time, with their weather. In an international group chat app, seeing those differences helps you choose when to write.

Read a message in your language

When Translate appears in a message’s menu, choose it to read the message in your language. Translation happens on your phone.

Leave quietly, whenever you like

You can leave a lagoon at any time. Memories you kept from your time there stay in your Book.

A shared Doori for the group

Once friends join, the lagoon has its own Doori, a hermit crab with a little house. Its shell grows with time and the sea glass earned as members write back to one another. Boop it from the Group widget on iPhone; when the conversation rests, Doori naps.

Questions

Does every group chat message translate?

Will the group be told if I leave?

No. You can leave quietly at any time, and memories you kept stay in your Book.

Do lagoons have a shared pet?

Yes. Each lagoon has its own Doori once friends start joining, and members can boop it from the Group widget on iPhone.
