Pen pals for anime fans
Anime fans can exchange letters about the stories and artwork they enjoy on Sea Pals. Choose anime as an interest so Mochi can look for people with something in common, then accept a letter to become friends.

How to make pen pal friends
Write a letter
Describe a visual detail or a story theme that stayed with you. Keep spoilers out until you know what your pen pal has watched.
Make a friend
Once you accept a letter, you can keep sharing opinions and drawing ideas from your island. Different favourites can give you something new to watch or talk about.
What to write about
An anime pen pal letter can compare storytelling, artwork or viewing habits without needing to share the same favourite series.
- Describe an animation style you enjoy and what you notice in it.
- Share a character trait you admire.
- Compare watching with subtitles and listening to a dubbed version.
- Describe the kind of opening music that makes you stay and listen.
- Share an idea for your own drawing and ask about your friend’s creative hobbies.
Words you’ll see
Japanese words heard in anime also have everyday meanings; a dramatic line or familiar form of address may not suit a first letter.
| Term | Reading | Meaning and use |
|---|---|---|
| 先輩 | senpai | Someone senior in a school, workplace or activity; not necessarily a close friend. |
| かわいい | kawaii | Cute or endearing. |
| いただきます | itadakimasu | A customary expression said before eating. |
| 仲間 | nakama | A companion or someone sharing a group or purpose. |
| すごい | sugoi | Amazing or impressive; meaning depends on context. |
| 頑張って | ganbatte | An encouraging “do your best” or “you can do it”. |
Questions
Is Sea Pals an official anime app?
No. Sea Pals is an independent pen pal app, with no connection to any anime series, creator or studio.

Can I share my Instagram or X?
Social handles and links can’t go in letters to someone new.
Is it safe for teens?
Teens 13–17 only meet other teens, subject to country minimum ages.
