How to make pen pal friends

Pick K-dramas

Add K-dramas and any interests that go with them, such as cooking.

Write a letter

Tell your pen pal what drew you into a scene and keep plot twists out of a first letter. Ask whether they want spoilers before discussing an ending.

Make a friend

Accept a letter to become friends and trade viewing impressions over time.

What to write about

A drama pen pal letter works well with a spoiler-free scene description and a question about what your fellow viewer noticed.

  • Describe a scene’s mood without revealing the ending.
  • Compare the kind of story you reach for after a long day.
  • Share a food you noticed on screen and would like to try making.
  • Describe a filming detail, such as lighting, clothes or background music.
  • Ask which everyday Korean expression your friend keeps noticing.
